Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed the 2021 budget estimates of N164.72 billion as against the N153.40 billion presented to the house by the state governor, Godwin Obaseki.
The proposed budget was increased by the sum of N11.32 billion.
The approved budget by the House comprises recurrent expenditure estimates of N98.3 billion while N55.6 billion was allocated to capital expenditure.
Obaseki had in November presented the 2021 budget estimates of N153.40 billion to the State House of Assembly for consideration.

The passage of the budget was sequel to the consideration of the report of the house committee on appropriation and project monitoring on the year 2021 appropriation bill and budget estimate presented by its chairman, Ephraim Aluebhosele, during plenary in Benin City.
During the consideration of the budget estimate, the committee approved an increase from the earlier proposed sum of N153.40 billion to N164.72 billion.
The speaker, Marcus Onobun, directed that copies of the bill be sent to the governor for accent.
Onobun further advised residents in the state to adhere to the COVID-19 preventive measures.
