The Community and Social Development Projects (CSDP) in Taraba State on Tuesday disbursed N500m to 50 communities for the execution of projects in 10 local government areas of the state.
The rural projects to be executed include Skills Acquisition Centres, class room blocks, drainages, water boreholes, among others.
The beneficiaries of the first tranche of the programme include fourteen communities in Wukari, 10 in Takum, seven in Yorro, six each in Ussa, Sadauna and Gashaka, two in Lau, and one in Zing .
Others are Gassol, Karim Lamido and Kurmi while Jalingo, Bali, Ibi, Donga and Ardo Kola local governments will benefit in the second tranche.
Speaking while presenting the cheques, the governor of the state, Darius Ishaku, applauded the CSDP for bringing development to the door step of the rural dwellers.
Ishaku who spoke through the secretary to the government of the state, Anthony Jalloson, advised the representatives of the communities to be prudent in executing the projects.
Earlier in his address the state general manager of CSDP, Irmiya Danjuma, lauded the commitment of governor Ishaku to the success of organisation in the state.
Danjuma who expressed delight over the N500m counterpart funds paid by the state government last year pledged to excel in his assignment
“The projects are possible because of the support of the Taraba State government, that is committed to CSDP,” he said.
“Last year the government paid counterpart of five hundred million naira and this year the government is about to pay three hundred million,” he said.
The general manager added that “I want to advise the benefiting communities to protect the facilities jealously,” Danjuma added.
