Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state has asked all industries and other corporate bodies to come to the aid of the state in providing job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths.
Besides, Abiodun courted the corporate bodies to tap on the newly created job portal by the state government for the placement of job seekers in open vacancies.
The Governor, who made the call while playing host to the representatives of S & W and ZIgma Limited at Governor’s Oke- Mosan office on Tuesday, said that the state expected companies to give employment opportunities to both the skilled and unskilled workforce in the state and added that the state would do all within its power to make investors reap the benefits of their investments.
He disclosed that the state government is on the verge of making the process of investing in the state easy through its Ogun Investment Bill and said that once the bill currently with the state House of Assembly is passed, issues on land and permit would be made easy.
Abiodun who also decried the current state of infrastructure in the state, said that the state government would do all within its power to ensure that movement of goods and services is made easy, adding that lots of premium would be placed on infrastructure.
“We are worried about our state of infrastructure, it is important for you to be able to come into the state, move about, transport your goods and services. So, we are placing a lot of premium on the rehabilitation of infrastructures within the state and those infrastructures that connect the state with neighbouring states, especially, Lagos state, ” he said.
Earlier in her response, the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Zigma Limited, Funmi Ogbue, disclosed that they were pleased with the commitment of the state government to support the private sector and added that with the support, the company would be established and jobs created for the teeming youths.
“We are quite pleased with what we have heard from the governor. We are coming into the state to set up a factory to produce industrial nuts and bolts for the oil and gas and our nuts and bolts can also be used in the manufacturing, agriculture, marine and automobile industries.
“We believe that with the support of the state, we can establish, grow the factory and create jobs,” she said.
The team had Mafua Charles and Adeshina Olaitan for Zigma Limited, while S&W Corporation, had Orji Orlo Imoh and its president, Jung Woo Jin.
