The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) Monday said two groups, Deservation and Pukka Initiative which claimed to have evidence on the existence of election results servers are busybodies who are sponsored and have an ulterior motive.
Deservation and Pukka Initiative, comprising information technology and legal experts claimed to have incontrovertible evidence about (INEC) servers installed in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The groups made the revelation in Yola, showing a document that detailed how and when INEC server was allegedly installed and put to use.
Sani Adamu who spoke for the two groups said, “apart from the incontrovertible facts our IT and legal teams have in their possession, and ready to bring to the attention of the tribunal, I wish to present to you another evidence obtainable by FoI.”
Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman while reacting to the claims of Deservation and Pukka Initiative asked them to apply to the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal to be joined as interested parties and present the so-called evidence they claim to possess.
Oyekanmi stated that “the matter is in court and it will be subjudice to comment on it. The two groups making allegations are busybodies, sponsored, and they certainly have their ulterior motive.
“Rather than fly a kite in the media, they should apply to the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal to be joined as interested parties and present the so-called evidence they claim to possess. Otherwise, dramatizing a matter being heard in court in the media is not only disrespectful of the Court but also a sheer waste of time”.
Election results servers have been a serious subject of controversy in the ongoing legal tussle between President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.
