The Syrian government has accused delegates attending a Syrian peace conference in Switzerland of spreading“lies and misinformation’’ on Syria.
In Damascus’s first pubic remarks in Montreux, Syrian Minister of Media Affairs Emran Zoubi criticised conference hosts and participants for “manipulating the truth”.
He warned that the critical statements made by the U.S. and Saudi Arabia throw into doubt the “legitimacy” of the talks.
“All of the speeches were full of lies, missing key information and designed to give a negative image on Syria,” Zoubi told reporters.
“How can we reach a successful agreement if those holding the negotiations are on the side of one party only,’’ he asked.
