The Ogun command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Monday said it would soon repatriate 253 illegal immigrants arrested across the state within two days.
The command’s comptroller, Victoria Isang, who stated this when she briefed newsmen in Abeokuta, said that the arrests were made between Friday and Sunday.
According to her, the 253 suspected illegal immigrants were arrested in hotels, companies, quarries and uncompleted buildings in different locations across the state.

She said that the intensified raids on places of abode of illegal immigrants led to the arrest of the 253 persons who are from Mali, Benin, Niger and Togo.
The comptroller said that the command would also conduct more raids and search for other non-African nationals who have been staying in the country illegally.
“This is just the first phase; the exercise will continue until we are sure that all illegal immigrants are repatriated in line with the vision of our comptroller-general.
“We are sparing no efforts at confronting the various security challenges facing the nation through illegal immigrants.
